Ladybird Love

It's a sunny day today and I ventured out for a walk with our puppy Jim - to find that a new junk store has opened in the old store around the corner!

I popped in and found this vintage Ladybird teaching poster in a pile of old children's books that were being given away free. I was really excited, as I have been a collector of Ladybird books for years (this is part of my collection below). I have various sets of old work cards and flash cards but have never seen one of these posters before - I think it would have been used in a classroom.

A little while ago I had some of my spare Ladybird books made into notebooks by Ben and Natalie at Rebound Books in Melbourne - they are for sale on my website here. Inside there are blank pages made from recycled denim paper, with some of the original book pages dotted through as well. I love these!

Great poster! What a find! And how nice to come home to a new charity shop - always a pleasure to find a new one - especially if they're giving things away! t.x

Welcome back Allison! OMG - you weren't joking when you said you had a BIG ladybird collection! Love it - such dedication!! Just read your travel posts too - such great finds... and I think your stall looked fabulous. Must upload Lark goodies onto my site - fruity rattles have been popular at the markets so far, v. happy with them :)cheers, megan.

My oh my...that IS a collection. I did love those books when my chicks were small. I think they are a perfect size for small hands and yet are 'proper' books.

I just adore you Allison, your style, grace, taste & appreciation of where you are at in your business life. Those stores you visited looked simply delightful, oh, to have your own store . . . what a dream!! I haven't visited England since my Cath Kidston obsession started some 8 years ago, so i would simply die to spend 5 minutes in one of her dressing rooms. I think she went a big mass production & commercial for a while, so the images you posted have really captivated my interest. Welcome home, i bet your puppy & boys were so excited to have you home. Sorry about the iPod, what a shame. Love Posie

Oh my gosh - that poster sparked a memory for me. I'm sure we had that exact print in my classroom when I arrived in Australia from England (the first time) in the mid 70s. Beautiful! I'm totally envious of your collection ....
