Lots of friends and new customers popped by to say Hi today. Liz Jones of
Lino Forest came in with her kids - we are stocking her ace Betty Jo vintage lino brooches in the store.
Kim, who edits
Thaw magazine, also came in. It is great to have a locally-made zine just for our area.

A lovely friend brought in some pretty flowers to celebrate the opening.

And we finished off the exterior just in time for the photoshoot for Real Living magazine, although the rain meant that we can't get any decent exterior photos until tomorrow (fingers crossed). It's been raining like crazy all day and then we had a power cut. What's going on? I am very happy with the outside of the shop, except for the ugly black ramp that our landlord put in. I was hoping for a cute wooden one, any ideas on how we can disguise this beast? Oh, and do you like the sign? Steph painted this by hand, isn't she amazing? I found the bike in Ballarat, it's a Malvern Star dragster, it has a white seat with candy-coloured flowers!

The shop is looking wonderful. Could the ramp be painted in a light colour with a textured paint? Oh, how I longed for a dragster like that when I was a kid.
The shop looks excellent!! Loving the bike!
Sorry, no ideas on the ramp.
The shop is looking really sweet. Is that ramp tarmac. It is hard to think of a way to disguise it or draw the eyes away - maybe a stack of dirt pound in might lighten it. The rounded aedges stop you putting anything on or butting anything up otherwise a couple of potted conifers or other well shaped plants, maybe camellias? Have to be careful that what you can lift is not lifted by others too! Cherrie
hmmm, That ramp ! Maybe it could be declared unsafe and removed and then you could get a nice little pickety white one!
Luv it! I had a bike exactly the same as yours! It was purple with a flowery seat and a plastic basket on the handle bars. The bar at the back is called a "sissy bar".How I wish I could fly, like a lark across the country to visit your gorgeous shop-good luck with it!
Perhaps you could highlight/make a feature of it in some way rather than trying to hide it. Maybe turn it into a 'road'. Lines going down the middle. Or maybe a garden path. Red stencilled trees and flowers along the wall under the lark sign where the bike is.
Shop looking fantastic. Great to hear Real Living did a photo shoot. Your clientele will increase after you feature in the mag. The ramp maybe a bummer, but think of the positive, people in wheelchairs can now visit! :-)
Err maybe put some pot plants near the door to make a focal point.
Great photos Allison. Pleased to hear you will be in
Real Living magazine! Thanks for your comment about the wallpaper. My partner keeps saying, 'But you just painted it and now you want to cover it!' He doesn't get it at all! Enjoy your weekend and hope you get to rest up a bit. xx
Your shop is sooooo cute. I desperately wish I lived near by. Alas, I am in country SA, but if I'm ever in the neighbourhood. You are top of my tourist destination list!
Everything just looks beautiful.
As for the ramp. We did a lot of cute painting on the paving at our kindergarten. We used concrete paint in lots of different colours. Endless possibilities for the lark crew.
Looks amazing! So exciting for everyone involved.
Agreed. Painting. Maybe even run a competition for the design? xox
It looks fabulous! I really want that navy tutu :) K
I'll certainly be visiting if I find myself in Daylesford... perhaps you've given me a reason to visit! Good luck with your shop, it looks wonderful.
Love the exterior shot - it looks so inviting. I had that exact same bike as a child! I loved the white seat with the big 70's flowers on it.
I reckon fake grass and big plastic flowers on the sides.
make is pretty!
Cannot wait to see your shop in Real Living!!!!!! :D
Wow, it is so beautiful guys! If only I lived in Sydney and not Perth!
Any plans to expand?
Hello! Adding to the ideas on the ramp - I was going to suggest painting blue and white stripes to match your awning. Plenty of quick drying concrete paint out there to choose from. Good luck with it!
