Betsey

Don't get me wrong, I like Holly Hobbie, but as a girl I was always more of a Betsey Clark fan. I still have my school exercise books covered in Betsey wrapping paper. There's something about the adorable little people and their dreamy expressions that gets me every time! I recently came across these placemats in a vintage shop, they are kept for very special occasions. I also have Betsy playing cards, bed sheets, photo albums and a mirror. I draw the line at figurines, though. My favourite of the placemats is the last one: 'go out of your way to be happy today'.

I loved Betsy the best too. I have a few things still in my old bedroom at Mum's. Very cute.

These are so simple and sweet! Those were the days to grow up in, none of those 'Bratz' dolls and the like back then..........

I loved Betsey, my sister loved Holly Hobbie. I had loads of stuff as a child but it all got thrown out....what a shame! I recently bought some swap cards from ebay though, to frame for my little Lily's bedroom in the new house. These placemats are a real find.

How lovely they are! I always was a Betsey fan and did a post about them a few months a go when I managed to find a tray with 2 of them on. My sister I used to buy the writing paper and all sorts. As children, we didn't know what they were called so we named them the boubous and we still call them that now!
Really enjoyed your Betsey post, those mats are a great find!

Thank you SO much for posting this !! I have been trying to find these illustrations forever. I still remember going to a 6 yo birthday party and they had plates and cups with these pictures on them - I think my partyware obsession started way back then with these gorgeous illustrations (and I had ALL the swapcards)... xx Kate (www.sambellina.com.au)

They are so sweet and whimsical. I feel rather left out as I don't remember ever seeing Betsey. As a previous poster said, such a great change from our era with the Bratz doll invasion. xx

These are gorgeous! My old Betsey Clarke quilt is still up at mum and dads for us to cuddle up with on the couch on wintery day - beautiful...
