We went to my friend's house for tea a few days ago. While the kids were running around on an Easter egg hunt and the guys were talking about computers, my friend brought out her swap card collection to show me. Did you collect swap cards as a child? I don't think we had them in the UK, I only heard about them when we moved to Australia.

She collected them avidly as a girl, and she has carefully preserved them over the years, so her cards are in the most pristine condition I have seen.

And look how many she has, this is only a fraction!

These are some of my favourites.

There are quite a few I have never seen before.

Don't you love people who are passionate about their collections? I think it is my favourite thing in a person. What do you collect?

Wow they are just gorgeous! Your friend has some amazing cards in that colloection. I use to collect swap cards with my cousin when we were little, we had so many & I've no idea whatever happened to them, such a shame...

Oh my!! I thought for a moment I was back at my friend Jodie Sims'
house playing go fish & dressing up our Barbies getting them ready to go out with her Donny Osmond doll & my KISS dolls.
Wowsers, these cards are absolute gold! There is a TONNE of illustration inspiration in there... I think I need to start hunting some vintage swap cards down. I collected them as a kid too, but mainly ones with horses on them as i was SO obsessed with horses :) Thanks for sharing!
that is an amazing collection, I still have a few of the same swap cards, that my girls are playing with now. Not is such great condition though.
I recognise lots of those cards, don't have left though.
I collect tine and buttons.
I to was a swap card o holic and it makes me cry that withh all the moves over the years, I have no idea what became of them ! Tears !
Stunning collection. I can't believe that she has treasured them all this time. My husband is still kicking himself for selling his die cast original Star Wars figure collection at a garage sale - he always say 'Why did Mum let me do that?'
I have way to many books, I guess that's my collection.
Oh they're lovely!
I had a wonderful swap card collection, then about 2 years ago an album just went missing. To this day I think I accidentally threw it out. Makes me teary just thinking about it!! I hope your friend keeps her albums very safe :)
we had most if not all of these as kids too (myself and 2 sisters) but no idea where they are today. my little sister (now 36!) still gets made when she remembers a classmate stealing her stack of swop cards. we were just talking about them the other day and wondering when they were going to be cool again, sure it is time to bring them back to schools. trouble is all us mums a) cant find our collections or b) wouldnt want to part with them even if we COULD find htem. Thanjs for sharing these here and bringing back lots of primary school memories
I think I just went to swap card heaven! xo
Oh, my. I was suddenly back in the playground with the other girls comparing our cards. I have no idea where mine went.
Unfortunately I collect everything. This makes it hard to move into a new small house with no storage....
Beautiful! I didn't collect cards but I was massively into stickers!
Oh you have just sent me on a journey to my past. I am now ripping my parents home apart in search of my collection and finding glorious reliques like Marcel Marlier's "Mary loves to Dance" amongst others. Please tell me who the card artist is 4th image, bottom left, girl in purple dress with anglewing sleeves-this was my favourite card! Clare
