No granny squares were harmed...

I needed to make some artworks to decorate one of the rooms in our house. I had some spare granny squares quilts from various op shop expeditions.

Et voila! Granny art.

Don't worry, crochet fans: these were blankets that were either too small or scrappy or holey, and one of them was felted in the wash. I am rather pleased to be finally giving them a new lease of life.

great idea! i can't help but buy crochet blankets at the op shop even when i really don't need any more, this is a great way to use them up!

Oh yes! This is brilliant!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I have a couple of op-shopped rugs that have seen better days, but they are indeed artworks and no way can I chuck them... hope you don't mind if I play with this idea too.
